Improve Your Call to Action:
How you close out your social media posts or emails to newsletter subscribers can make or break a sale. A call to action (CTA) tells your follower what to do when they read your post. Effective CTAs lead to higher engagement and increased sales!
Create a sense of urgency. Urgency or scarcity is a well-known and effective tactic in affordable social media marketing. Time-related language includes “Shop now” or “Sign up today.” Words like “limited” or “reserve” imply scarcity.
Personalize your CTAs. While time-consuming, personalizing your calls to action can greatly increase your sales. You don’t always have to include a person’s name, but changing the location or season goes a long way. This is most effective in email marketing but can also be used in cheap Facebook ads.
Responsive design. When including CTAs in your website copy, you should triple-check where they fall on different devices. Mobile users should still be able to see your call to action before needing to scroll too far.
Your CTA should stand out. Whether you put a call to action in your image or in the caption, it should stand out. Use contrasting colors or leave space between your text. If you don’t separate the CTA from the rest of the text, it will get lost and lose effectiveness.
Make the CTA into a button. Buttons are very tempting to us, and we expect something to happen when we click them. In your emails include a hyperlink to lead your reader where you want them to go. Don’t forget to make it clear what will happen when they click the button. People won’t click it if they are unsure.
Test and refine. Most likely, your first choice for a call to action will not be the most effective. Test different layouts, wording, and design. Try to only test one variable at a time because you won’t be sure what part of your test is most effective.
